About Hernando    

Before and since becoming founder and managing partner of Z2Sixty Ventures, Hernando Bunuan has dedicated himself to helping other founders achieve their aspirations, whether that means going public or realizing an M&A exit. Over the years, he has learned from colleagues, clients, and other advisors the best ways to analyze businesses and markets, create a winning playbook, and build high-performing teams and processes.

Early career to present

Hernando’s career spans venture capital and investment banking, in the US (New York and Silicon Valley) and throughout the EMEA region. He is a founding member of Laureate Ventures, serves on the Investment Advisory Committee for Lakeshore Ventures, invested and consulted as a Venture Fellow at VU Venture Partners, and before that, launched Adykai Ventures in London. On the banking side, he worked at Barclays, executing and advising on over $40 billion in transaction value in landmark M&A, IPO, and debt capital market deals across software, internet, fintech, digital media and semiconductors. And at Needham & Company, he was a member of their technology M&A team. He initially trained as an accountant at KPMG.

Giving back  

Community service is integral to Hernando’s identity. Since 2016, Hernando has been a mentor and judge for Executive MBA students of Chicago Booth involved in the Global New Venture Challenge, a track of the Polsky Center’s nationally-ranked accelerator.  In 2019, Hernando expanded his involvement by organizing and co-chairing the alumni cohort for the EMEA region and later the East Coast region, and in 2021, became a Business Liaison for the inaugural class of Duality, a quantum accelerator program in Chicago.   In 2022, Hernando joined NYU's Endless Frontier Labs as a mentor for its Deep Tech and Digital Tech tracks.

Hernando has received the Alumni Service Award from the University of Chicago for his ongoing contributions and is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors’ (NACD) Accelerate program, which develops future board leaders and increases board diversity.   He is NACD Directorship Certified.
